Folks report good results with the stuff from Mark Grant, though i've not tried it myself it is pretty cheap..

I use the QED Silver Anniversary stuff for my rears and that is also very good, slightly over your budget by 50p though:

However for sensible money (and buying new) i'd get Chord Carnival:

If you're prepared to buy used you can get Chord Rumour and even Odyssey for bargain prices on eBay.. for instance a 3m pair (i.e. total 6m) including terminations usually goes for approx £40 and that's well worth it!

I have been using Van Damme Blue studio grade 2x 2.5mm cable for a while now. I got mine from Maplin though there was a rumour they were going to discontinue. I believe it is the prefered choice of studios and the BBC which suggests it is both neutral sounding and robust in construction. I have certainly found it suits both my AV and stereo setup and would happily recommend it.

I have the same 2.5mm Van Damme cable although I've not tested it yet having just finished terminating it all, I can comment on its quality which is very high, its also nice and flexible making it ideal for going round skirting.

If you look in the powerbuy section of the forum you can get it at a discount price from Joe.

No you don't, but for £40 terminated it's a bargain and it's not as if the speakers are going to complain about having decent cable attached now really is it...
