    :hiya:

My subwoofer comes with 2 inputs but my receiver only has 1 output, Is it worth getting a cable splitter so the 1 cable becomes 2? Any benefit at all in this? Also is it worth upgrading the cable on the sub?

I wouldn't bother with a cable splitter unless you're having trouble with an auto-on circuit not initialising quickly enough.

Probably not worth bothering with a different cable unless the one you're using at the moment looks to be poorly constructed.

I've heard that they can work, but heard that it would work with my sub - I still went out and bought one to see what it was like, but for my sub - it just sounded terrible...thats not to say it won't work for your setup...

this is the one I bought - http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/XFA08-Y1F.html

That's the cable i was looking at as well.

Mylo it's the av50 from unbeatable :) the nsp100 set up.

Think i will leave it for now and concentrate on getting good speaker cable.

    Thanks anyways

You could get a custom made cable. I have a Chord cable with a 1 RCA to 2 RCA configuration. This removes the need for a splitter. It is not costly either, you are just paying for another run of cable.

The theory is that using a splitter cable to feed both low level subwoofer inputs achieves about a 3dB gain in output. So the sub is louder. Wow!

But now you have to turn down the gain on the sub to compensate. Or the sub will sound far too loud compared with your speakers.

So what have you really gained? Nothing. You've lost the cost of the cable. Which would have bought you a DVD or two. :clown:
