    Hi all.
I'm looking to move my Sky box in our bedroom to another bedroom.
I was going to order new cable and run it all in new, but I've just seen a few ads in eBay offering extension set ups instead.
I'm guessing it would be preferable to not have a join in the cables, but will there be any noticeable difference if there was? It would make my life a lot easier...

Some will say dont do it but I purchased male/female cable ends from Amazon or Maplin (cant remember which), used these to make a join/extension and sealed in loads of electrical tape. Said join is now in fact buried under an internal doorway encased in concrete.

I did this to extend cables and wall mount whilst having some building works done inside the house. If I were to do it now I would re run a full length of cable but the join has been there for over 5 years and I have never had an issue.

There'll either be no picture at all, or a picture as good as it was before - there's nothing in between.

Except reduced signal and increased rain fade margin. :D

Whatever you decide be cautious buying kits from ebay, a lot feature unbranded cheap tat.

So what should I be looking for/avoiding then? Is there a decent place to buy from?

Buy a couple of f-connectors and the length of cable that you need from your local supplier.
