Morning All,
Quick question that'll hopefully:
A. Put my mind to rest
& B. Keep the other half happy as I might not need to spend any money!
Currenty have my Marantz CD5001 OSE hooked up to my 540r via the CD/Aux Analogue inputs. When the signal hits the amp the display briefly shows PCM.
At this point is the receiver doing anything with the signal other than amplifying it, am I correct in thinking that a PCM signal is uncompressed and I'm getting everything out of my speakers that the DACs within the CD Player have produced?
If not would I see any real gain in swapping the amp for something with a 'direct pass thru' function?
Cheers in advance!
