To cut a long story short, Xbox Live is the greatest thing man has seen since well...forever.

Play Live and you can't go back to the dumb computer AI. I suggest everyone who doesnt have it, beg, borrow or steal it. If you can't get broadband MOVE!

    Nothing else compares.

    Agree Dom.
I was thinking about this only the other day....
For me the nearest to intelligent AI has to be Halo (legendary)
Still, once Halo 2 arrives then computer AI in that will be insignificant...roll on the release for that :)

Imagine Splinter Cell with a team of online players infiltrating a building while another team patrolled :)

Do you think every genre could incorporate human players to replace cpu AI?

that would be sweet but it wouldn`t happen. as there is loads of people intent on spoiling things for everyone.just like on moto GP when your on for a good time or your in the lead. theres some d**ks on the corner trying take you out.i can`t see why they would spend their money on live & broadband just to do things like this.it must be they thought they were good at game & got a wake up call from real gamers on live.

Several weeks ago this seemed to be happening all the time, in fact I think every race someone was driving backwards or trying to knock me off.
I don't know whether I've been lucky but it certainly seems to be happening less frequently now and also more and more hosts chuck these people out as soon as they start ruining it for others.
Hopefully they'll just get bored with it or go back to school ;)

Returning to the AI thing, although not everyones cup of tea, there seem to be more and more positive reports about how good Ghost Recon is on live. I have this game but until I can beat liverpool's lap time on Suzuka it's MotoGP for me ;) :D

    Best wishes

Grief play is nothing new, it's been going on for years in online gaming :)

It won't stop either, some people just enjoy it too much.

I expect multiplayer cheats and hacks to follow shortly, just takes a little longer with a console than a PC game.

I've been playing network/internet games on the PC for the last ten years since DOOM hit the scene.

Personally I think the XBOX/PS2 etc still has some catching up to do...

Battlefield 1942 is the best PC online game. It just won CNET internet game of year 2002

    You should try it

True. But at least with the negative feedback option on Xbox Live anyone who continually does this could find themselves banned.

This is certainly a worry for MS which is why you can't run anything other than the default bios and log onto live, so that should possibly eradicate cheat discs and I believe there's also a block on unsigned games discs so that should stop cheat enabled games.
Notice I used *should* a lot as I guess nothing is ever totally secure - only my wallett ;)

    Regards

Counter Strike is THE best online FPS game. BF1942 is fun but stilll lacks the accuracy and sheer playability of CS, IMO.

Glad to see you guys are enjoying Live, online gaming is the way forward.

Self regulating "player justice" systems don't work either, I would expect the negative feedback feature to be abused as well.

    God I'm cynical :)

I spent too many years playing MMGs :)

    Fair point
As far as I am aware if you were to upset certain people who's to stop them hitting that negative feedback button fifty or so times?
MS must have thought of this though...

Interesting to hear how this might be regulated, anyone?
