A new brand By d:sign (japanese) will be sold in France in june.
The available LCD Full HD models will be the following :

The french retailer told us that the japanese version deals with 1080p (TBC).
But the real interesting point is their prices :

    LCD Full HD 42" 2200€ (1529£)
    LCD Full HD 47" 2600€ (1796£)

Some other characteristics (TBC on European version):
    brightness rating is 600 cd/m2,
    contrast ratio of 1000:1.
picture modes of 16:9 and 4:3.
Inputs are S video, analog RGB, HDMI, and YUV.
The speakers are 20W (10W + 10W). The viewing angle is reported to be 176 degrees
    screen refresh rate is 8ms
Image processing : DCDi by Faroudja

By d:sign also sells Plasma, I will put related information in the Plasma topic.

It looks like it's going to be a very interesting few weeks ahead with new models from Samsung, JVC, Sony,Toshiba and now some newcomers like D:sign - oh, and the Hyundai's seem to be well received too.

Bit rusty, but here goes -

"High picture quality and stylish design does not have to mean expensive prices. Thoroughly lower the cost of your product by alowing direct sales via the internet. Because of that, the liquid crystal television will be available at an unbelieviably cheap price."

From the Japanese link D:4242GJ, the list of supported resolutions implies overscan applied to digital and component inputs:-

    Video function 525i/525p/750p/1125i
    D4 input 525i/525p/750p/1125i
    Component input 525i/525p/750p/1125i/1125p

Also on Japanese model (Euro may be ok) no Pal support (625i/p with overscan).

So just looking at the specs, 1:1 may only be likely via PC (VGA input).
