    Hi

A friend of mine is in the USA and I am after a plasma, so would it be possible for him to get me one over there and me to use it over here?

Not sure of the technical issues involved, but would be very very interested to learn.

    Many thanks
    Andrew

Should be fine as they tend to follow and be seen like pc specs universality, just check spec's. Though I wonder how customs will react to such a 'gift', I think you may still pay duty. Plus I don't think a warranty will be valid for here.

Plus, you're gonna need a step down transformer (240 - 110v) which should cost between £20 and £40.

Are plasmas much cheaper in the US that it's worth taking the risk with Import Duty and VAT, plus the risk of damage in transit?

    Hi

Not really worth it I don't think. Not much cheaper over here by the time you have paid VAT and import tax on them. Cheaper if you are going there and can 'smuggle' one back in your suitcase though, I imagine.

    Thanks guys
    Andrew
