Well they have 100% feedback with over 100 people which is a good sign.

Just remember that a smaller company may not always be around but you'd have manufacturers warranties anyways.

 that PC World computer is ridiculously low spec for that price, then again it's PC World :p Online retailers like Dell or Mesh might be an alternative.

Looks bloody good for that price. Plus if you pay by paypal you have the £500 protection if it really goes pair shaped, although looking at their feedback it looks a bargain.

I have been in touch with them about a different case, the guy(Ross) got back to me within a couple of hours.
The payment thing is what bothers me,they only take p.order, cheq and a/c transfer.
I have just e-mailed about this though.

Just had a reply from Ross:

We don't take card payments as the profit margins on PC are so low and
all credit card facilities charge a percentage of the transaction (from
2 to 4%) this equates to a large percentage of the profitability.

We will accept PayPal payments if you cover their 3.9% charge.

We could buy you in a Thermaltake Soprano case for an additional £30.

    Ross

    what do you think?

Specs dont ring true. First they say its a 3.8Ghz Athlon 64. Theres no such beast. Then they say its a 2.5Ghz, then they say its a Athlon 3800++. What the eck is a ++?

Build it yourself - have you priced up the parts seperately?

Contact the other buyers. And see what they think now they've had their systems up and running. Thermaltake Soprano VB1000SWS Case for £30.00 is very good, but that depends on the cost of the case he is going to keep?

I think the point drummerjohn was making is that there is no such thing as 3.8hgz AMD CPU. The A64 3800+ actually runs at 2.4ghz, and elsewhere they state a 2.5ghz CPU.

Maybe just a typo though, as the feedback does "look" good. Alot of the items sold have been things that dont cost more than a fiver, but there are a few PCs in there though.

    Looking through the specs....

    Breath taking 128MB nVidia GeForce 6600GT PCI-Express Graphics card (DV-I, TV-OUT)

Althought the 6600Gt is ok, its far from "breath taking"!!!

    It's also been "pre-overclocked"....

Incredible AMD Athlon 64-BIT Skt 939 Processor Tuned to run at 2.5GHz (faster than a standard 3800+ @ 2.4GHz)

mjn you is correctamundo! see reply from another buyer below:

    Question from filopastry
    Hello,

Generally I found them great to be honest, I had a problem with mine as I didn't go for an operating system and installed myself, but even though it wasn't a hardware problem they were very helpful, generally very impressed, got the comp within about a week of winning the auction as well.

The only thing to be aware of is that the processor is an overclocked lower spec processor, my 3800 was an overclocked 3000 to 2.5Ghz, but thats unlikely to be a problem with athlons as they're pretty good overclockers, I've had no temperature or stability problems at all.

If you need anything else let me know

ah well i'm off to eat a nice humble pie......................

a side thought on all this they really should just say what the actual processor is!!!!!!!!!!!!!
instead of making me look like a muppet!
    haha!

"Incredible AMD Athlon 64-BIT Skt 939 Processor Tuned to run at 2.5GHz (faster than a standard 3800+ @ 2.4GHz)" From the ebay listing.

Maybe a bit of overclocking involved???
