okay. payday and im still undecided on which home cinema system (or separates) im gonna get. Soon as i start to decide on one another one pops up. I guess its true the more you look the more you see :suicide:

Samsung HTTX35R

pros + inc dvd/divx player tall speakers , anytime+ with my tv
minus - less connections, sync issues, less flexible than separates

Sony DDW890

Pros + Sound setup 6.1 lots of connections

Yamaha AV-3101

Pros + just had a glance at this but seems to have connections for anything i might need and also has a mic for auto sound setup :)

Price range is at the maximum £250.
I dont mind if the package doesnt include a dvd player (because i already have one) and i can always add a good one later if need be.

Whats important to me is that its in stock, fast delivery and excellent sound in 5.1 (or 6.1) for DVD, SKY, PS3

i dont ask for much do i :D
But definately buying Friday Morning.

Blimey no comments at all then
When i bought the tv i certainly did my best to help others with their questions about it etc. Guess the door doesnt swing both ways.

(yes ive read both the DDW890 and the httx35r threads.)

nevermind i guess

I have the exact same dilema between the same players. Hard isn't it! I'm kind of leaning towards the Yamaha because of its ability to upgrade but I wanted tallboys. Tough choice.

Well I have an XBox 360 so that handles my upscaling for DVD's and I have my laptop linked to it if I ever need to watch Divx films so I guess the Yamaha is maybe the best i'd just like to know for sure it produces better sound.

thanks for the replies. :) I think to be honest i wont be dissapointed with going for any one of them. favourite is the sony though (from pixmania). Heard nothing but good things and im now thinking i dont have the space for tallboy speakers. If the sound is the same or better then i dont see it as an issue.

These systems are so hard to find decent reviews for, I can't find anything (in english) for the Yamaha and apart from the samsung I can't seem to find much for the Sony.

it would appear the sony owners are happy with the sony, and the yamaha owners are happy with the yamaha.
so flip a coin,etc..both good systems, both for good prices.

I think I may go for the Yamaha 5101 mainly for the HDMI and future scalability. I'll be buying next week so i'll spend this week killing myself though I must say the Yamaha looks to be winning so far.

I had the same dilemma last week with the same budget however I think my needs were slightly different as I particularly wanted surround sound for viewing VirginHD.

In the end I opted for separates and today ordered the Sony HT-SS1100 5.1 for £199 and also the Samsung DVD1080P for £75.

In the end I was over my budget slightly but I just couldn’t find a All-In-One that met my needs but I feel I have made the right choice and I am now looking forward for delivery next week.

ok have stalled on the order because both the sony and the yamaha were only available from pixmania. Ive decided against ordering from them after reading quite a few horror stories about them.
Doing more reading on other systems while i resist the temptation to just walk down to currys and pick up the HTTX30R (dont need the 35r tallboy speakers)

Never had any problems with pixmania myself and many others here have had no problems.
