I'm thinking of buying the Hitachi 42 pd3000 , but have a few questions.Firstly can you take the speakers away from the screen. On the website they have pictures of them away from the screen on small stands, however when I phoned sound and vision they said they are fixed.Anyone tried to move there's?.Also the best price from them is £3045 any good?

Or would you go for the Hitachi pma400e and whats the difference between the two?

The website has the 3000 under plasma televisions and the 400 under plasma monitors?

    any help!

400 is the monitor version, i.e no tuner/tuner box or speakers, and it has fans to cool it built in to the screen.

    Best price I've seen a 3000 for is £2999 from QED (www.qed-uk.com)

From my research, the 3000 comes with the tuner box and stand. The 400 is just the monitor. You can detach speakers on 42" version of the 3000, they are fixed on the 32".

As to price, can't help you as I am looking at 32" model due to room size.

    Hope that helps

The pma400 is a screen only solution the pd3000 includes the media box so is more of a plug and play solution.

I don't own one so I can't confirm that the speakers are detachable but it has been discussed here & I'm sure that they are.

Try giving Phil at Audiovision in Sheffield a call (0114 248 5537
) he was very helpful when I was looking at the 32 inch model - they also seem competitive on price (also Crampton & Moore in sheffield - cramptonandmoore.co.uk & tvandvideodirect.co.uk in Bolton. And don't forget John Lewis)

Can confirm that the 42" has detachable speakers, whereas the 32" are fixed.

I have the 32", but the User Guide is shared between the two models, and it details how the speakers can be removed from the 42" model only.

    Cheers, Carl.

As RossC states - QED have it in for £2999 + free delivery but check availability first. I ordered on from them on 24th May (Sat before Bank holiday) and on the Sunday phoned them for delivery date. They didn't have any in stock and were expecting a delivery that week. Found www.tvandvideodirect.com who have it in for £2999 + £40 delivery. Cancelled my order with QED and ordered with tvand video for delivery today. Got a call last Friday from them to say that unfortunately mine had been crushed by a forklift in the warehouse (OUCH:suicide: ) and they would have to wait for a new delivery from Hitachi.

Called QED again just in case but they still didn't have any and were expecting them this week - so two weeks without stock.

So after that call I did another quick search on the model and found www.cromptonandmoore.co.uk. They had it for £2955 + £35 delivery on their webiste but its £2980 on their ebay shop.
Anyway called them last Friday at 4pm and they arranged delivery for last Tuesday so only a 2-3 working day turnaround. They were extremely helpful and I cant fault them at all (or tv and video direct for that matter).

My only issue (as posted in another thread) is that on delivery there was only one delivery guy (CityLink) and he asked my wife to help him get it out of the van and into the house.....not very happy at all about that and will be writing to them. Told Crompton and Moore about that and he was shocked, he explained that Citylink are instructed to ensure two men are there to deliver. He apologised profusely for that but in the end thats not their fault.:)

Sorry - typo. It is of course www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk

The ebay shop can be found at:http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/store=12658998

Just had a quick glance and cant se the Hitachi on there now but it was last Friday. In fact when I searched last Friday it was the first refernce I came across. (bit different today!) and then I came on here and searched for the name to see who had any dealings with them. Got a lot of positives and so called them. Got to say they have been excellent

    :)

Come to think of it, CityLink delivered my PMA and there was only one guy, and I had to help him with it. Actually, every time CityLink have delivered to me, there has only been one guy.

Mind you, the first time he tried to deliver it I wasn't there so he took it away again rather than leaving it with a nieghbour.

Begs the question though re insured delivery. What happens if they ask you to help and it gets broken? Whos liable? I would have thought considering the size, weight and value of these panels that they would ensure that they have the means to cope. I spoke to Crampton and Moore who were under the impression that Citylink are supposed to have 2 delivery guys. Might have another word with them. Theres no way one person could be expected to deliver them:eek:

I found it on the net for 2299 + vat at http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/plasma-screen/index.htm

I had never heard of them so i gave them a few calls over a few days and they seemed ok so i went for it.

Just phoned John Lewis (Cheadle) there price is £3500, however you get 5 years service and parts free. Some places are charging upto £1000 for that.So do you pay extra for the free cover?
I think I'II go and have a look this Sunday. However they won't get any stock untill the end of June.

Don't forget that JL have a price match policy & they will match Crompton & Moore or TV and Video Direct - they did with me on the 32 inch model - also now waiting for stock.
