Hi....does anyone have any experience/views on buying ,as I am thinking of doing,a Philips or Tosh 36" from one of the permanent eBay shops selling, mostly,as far as I can see, discontinued "graded" TV's, i.i.Philips 9525 and Tosh zp18p.....the prices look attractive(!)

A television is not, imho, particularly well suited for buying from the likes of ebay stores. There are far to many possible complications that the set could suffer from where you may want to take it back to a bricks and mortar shop.
36'' crt are particularly 'at risk'.

Most TVs sold on eBay are either refurbished, ex-demo units or open box units and I for one would never purchase a TV from eBay.

i only forsee i major problem.
i notice that most of them have a return to base warranty.
    thats a major headache!
the fact that the tv is graded/seconds etc is neither here nor there,it will work no better nor worse than a brabd new one.
it can last you 6 months or 6 years without a problem.
i have bought graded in the past its only in the last two months going wrong, its lasted 5 years ,i only paid 45% of its rrp, it looked brand new when bought.
