I'm looking to buy a Cambridge 640 amp & CD player. Are these only available from Richer Sounds? I would normally expect a bit of discount when buying 2 items that cost £500 :D

You may be better off looking for some speaker cable and/or decent interconnect?!

Some RS stores are better than others at discounts, you might want to try to play them off against one another.

As Richer Sounds owns Cambridge Audio these days, that's the only place that's going to carry them "openly".

I bought the 640a and c from Richer, no discount (but then £250 for the 640c is NOT a bargain...??Hmmm right!) but got two sets of interconnects bunged in, and a pretty decent price for my old NAD3130 and Sherwood 5010 against them.

At the risk of being accused of lazines (i just joined :)) has anyone else recenlty been through a amp and CD purchase at this price level (I was once a massive NAD convert, but not any more....I wasnt prepared to pay the additional £100 for the NAD c542 and the 220BEE is not as good as the 640a. The 640c is in a different planet at £250, the detail, the timing, the musicality of the thing is incredible. This is the only time I've ever agreed with What Hi-Fi !
