My boss has asked me to do some research on buying a new PJ for the office - obviously it'll be used most for presentations, but I'm sure he'll want to use it to watch a film on every so often...

Other requirements are it has to be as small as poss (in case he needs to take it on the road), and it has to be bright enough to be used with the lights on if possible...

I've been out of the LCD market for a while now (since deciding to get CRT!), so what gives the best bang-for-buck at the mo and fills those criteria?

Having seen the PG-B10S by Sharp, I can recommend this.
1500 Ansi, only SVGA native res, but will compress to SXGA.
4,500h lamp life and I understand the bulbs will be cheaper also.
I've seen them for well under £1,000......Oh and it's LCD.

Sharp have also introduced a loan warranty system for this product, so if it does go fault, they will loan you a projector and 90 lamp warranty.

    Hope this helps.

If your boss is going to be using a laptop then it may be best to try to match the projectors native resolution to the laptop, most of which are XGA these days.

Take a look at the Plus range of projectors if size is paramount.

Why don't you have a look at the bCool range from Philips ?

    bCool SV1 :
    - 1500 lumens (good enough for a room with lights on)
    - SVGA (depends on what resolution he wants)
    - 1.6 kgs (pretty light !)
    - DLP with 2000:1 contrast ratio (should be excellent for home cinema)

    bCool XG1 :
    - same as above but XGA resolution

The SV1 is at £1596 and the XG1 at £1867 (all inc vat) from the company Ricco recommended above.
