buying a new dvd recorder

i am a novice, can any one help me to buy a new dvd writable recorder to convert my vedeo tapes into dvd format without going through the computer. i recently bought a freecom fx50(8x) and lost through the connections to the compmuter! help

Panasonic e50 is what you want, unless you have a DV camcorder then you go for an e60. I've hooked my video up to it and have copied lots of old video footage that I can't get on DVD.
