I am about to buy a Mesh Elite Q4fx PC. I need to PC as a general PC not gaming but a good number cruncher foro video manipulation etc etc. I know its not the greatest graphics card as standard but I hope in a 6-12 months I'll swap it for an 8600 or better for less than £100.

    Thoughts ??

    Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
    Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 Processor
    (2.40GHz ,8MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz)
Hybrid TV Tuner - Digital & Analogue
    SLI nForce 650i Mainboard
    Now With 4GB Memory
500GB SATA 2 Hard Drive with 16MB buffer
    256MB nVIDIA Geforce 8400GS (DX10)
19" Widescreen TFT LCD Display w/speakers
LightScribe Super Format 20x DVD Writer
5.1 High Definition onboard sound card
    6 USB, Firewire, GB LAN
    Multi-format Memory Card Reader
Logitech Cordless KB & Optical Mouse
Free upgrade to 1 Year Onsite Warranty (Home Service)

Is this a good deal for £699 ?? or can I do better

My thoughts, avoid Mesh Computers. I'm not alone in these thoughts either:

I purchased a system from Mesh, an experience I won't be repeating again in a hurry. They used to have a forum on hexus.net here: http://forums.hexus.net/mesh-computers/ but I can only conclude due to all the criticism they have closed it.

Now they have a forum here: http://www.meshownersclub.com/forum/ I should make a note of the last url as you'll be using it alot after you've purchased. I suspect the change will help reduce all the criticisms that are posted, as they own it unlike the hexus.net forum where they had to take the good with the bad.

Only purchase from Mesh if you're happy rebuilding their systems after they've sold them to you. If you're happy doing that and replacing the odd psu, motherboard, gpu etc then go for it.

    Good luck with your purchase.
