    Hi all,

I've been searching through all the info on here, trying to create a list of "must haves" so I can then get a short list of LCDs to look at.

Maybe this could be added to the FAQ if I've got the info right!

    From what I've read:

    sub 20s response time
    min resolution of 720 x 576
Contrast ratio? What's the minimum 500:1?

Anything else I need to add to my list?

    cheers,

    greg

Hmmmm, personally I'd revise those criteria to:

Sub-16ms response time (the lower the number the less blurring you'll get on fast moving images)

Min. resolution of 1280x720 (handy for Hi-Def movies or next-generation console gaming not to mention you can use it with your PC)

Min. contrast ratio 600:1 (the higher the figure the blacker the blacks are and the whiter the whites!)

Connections must include VGA and component video (these give far better image quality than RGB SCART or composite)

Of course, it really depends on what you want.

From your list, it looks as if you aren't interested in getting the best image quality or futureproofing your LCD TV, you just want to replace your existing CRT TV with an LCD equivalent. Am I right?

I'm looking at adding a small 15" LCD into the kitchen, and replacing a very old 21" Sony CRT in the kids playroom. So want decent piccie, but not the best, will probably plug a portable DVD into the kids playroom box.

I'll be keeping my 32" CRT Panasonic in the lounge for DVD, Sky etc.

    regards,

    Greg
