Bus Speed of Motherboard & Processor

I plan on getting a MSI S775 Intel 945P ATX 8 Channel Audio Lan it has a bus speed of 1066MHz and the processor I'm getting is a Intel Celeron D 356 3.3GHz Socket 775 512Kb and has a bus speed of 533MHz are they compatable.

Or is it a case of as long as the processor speed is less than the mobo bus speed it'll work.

I'm totally confused as not worked with motherboards always bought it all sorted, so any clarity you can give will be good.

your best bet with these kind of things is to check the recommended cpus on the motherboard page.

Supports Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium 4/D(DualCore and CederMill), and Celeron D Prescott LGA775 processors in LGA775 package
Supports FSB 1066/800/533 based Processor

so you'll be fine

That's quite an old motherboard thought, have you thought about something a bit more up to date and a dual core processor ? I'm not sure of what you're using it for / your budget but maybe something like this:

Pentium Dual-Core E2140 ~ £42.88
Gigabyte GA P35-S3 ~ £64.03
