TBH I think Burnout has lost its edge.

Burnout 2 was the best of the series and Burnout 3 probably gave the IP a new lease of life with EA publishing it.

However, Revenge seems to have lost its way as cars can now be rammed out of the way and this makes the game so much easier. This completely eliminates the risk/reward that the previous games had.

As its EA there will no doubt be a Burnout [5] so hopefully that returns the game back to basics... however, I doubt I will ever buy another Burnout game [despite it being one of my favourite franchises] as it seems to be getting long in the tooth and nothing new and exciting apart from a bit of graphical tweaking:thumbsdow

Compare racing on the wrong side of the road in Burnout 2 whilst boosting to boosting in Revenge and you will see the game fails to excite anywhere near to the same level as Burnout 2 did. That trully was the pinnacle of the series...

I'm looking forward to revenge but have to say just ploughing through all the cars going in the same direction does spoil the game a bit. They dropped the ' golf swing meter ' start because of bad feedback, hopefully they will do the same with this ' car checking' or whatever they call it. Everyone I know who has played the game says the same, its just daft and makes the game feel more like a hectic shoot 'em up than a driving game. I'm definately getting it though, should be a hoot online.

Here here, Burnout is dead. Some of those gimmicky "features" in Takedown and Revenge are terrible. No amount of dressing it up for the 360 will change that fact. :thumbsdow

Aye burnout 2 was the best version for me. The destruction mode was great for me on that but 3 was way too easy just aiming for the golds. Ive played the latest one a bit on xbox1 and the reason Im going to buy it for 360 is for online only, I really dont like the ramming car change though.

    PSP version aint bad though!

Yep, I'd also agree on Burnout 2 being the best in the series, I still have it on the Gamecube & love to play it on the projector:D

Burnout 3 was good, but for me it didn't have the arcade style fun that made Burnout 2 such a classic.

I think you're wrong here. At first I didn't agree with the ability to ram (most) traffic moving in the same direction as you, out of the way. This was based on the first Traffic Attack races which were dead easy and totally boring. Plus, it just 'felt wrong' after getting used to Burnout 3.

However, with time you realise that it makes the races flow much better. There's so much more going on that if you crashed every time you hit anything, it'd ruin the flow of the game. The more forgiving crash rules make for a much more intense experience and the ability to get boost by ramming other vehicles adds to the skill and strategy of the gameplay.

Plus, later traffic attack races are much harder and require a lot more skill. In fact, they're quite fun and force you to drive much differently than in a normal race, so introducing some welcome variety in the gameplay.

All in all, 'Revenge' is a waaaay more rounded game than Burnout 3 IMO. I wish they'd add replays to crash mode and fix the dodgy crash camera though. Maybe they'll do that in the 360 version.

He does a pretty interesting Podcast. Recently he had some expert on from MS talking about High Def TV. Worth listening to.

I agree, on top of this the crash mode is the best yet (except for the dodgy camera.) This is my favourite game on Live and I can't wait for the 360 version so I can lose hours of my life to this game again!

I'ts ok - just the same as the current gen version with nicer graphics and good Live play.

Live is cool on this - the replay function is a clever touch.
