Niiiiice... looks miles better than Revenge, and there was some Killswitch Engage in there too so the soundtrack should hopefully be a good one.

Very much looking forward to this, driving game for non-drivers, suits me fine...

I hope they don't just recycle the Dominator soundtrack
(My curse - which was that killswitch song in the trailer - was used in dominator aswell). And if they do use some of the same tracks though, please leave avril lavgine out (Girlfriend is possibly the most annoying song ever). Generally though, I've always found the burnout soundtracks pretty good.

Back on topic - trailers looks good, although I don't think I'm that fussed on the idea of it being open world like. Have to wait for the demo really though.

Sounds like TDU with crashing, which can only be a good thing.

I couldn't find any crashing in Dominator (not played it that much admittedly). I hope there are some crash scenarios in this.

Turning that sh*te music off is one of the first things I do with any Burnout game.

Just don't need the ears being grated by it!!!

Still, it looks good - as long as it's more Burnout 3 than Revenge, I'll be a happy camper.

It always baffles me why devs think I want music in a game. The very first thing I do when I put ANY new game on is turn the music off or down to 0. IF I'm racing around a track, shooting up a casino, running across a battlefield, playing football/tennis/golf etc etc etc etc the LAST think I want is music drowning out the sound of the actual game. I honestly just dont get it. Do they think Michael Scumacher has music on in his car? Or the SAS play music when they storm a building?

They go out of their way to make games more and more realistic these days and then totally ruin it by playing music over the top of the sound effects. I want to here the game!!!! If I want music drowning it out I'll put some on my stereo or my MP3 player or stream it via the 360 itself.

I could agree with that if its an F1 game or an FPS etc, but Burnout isn't (and isn't supposed to be) realistic. Personally, for some games, music works really well. GT3 is the best example. The soundtrack on that was awesome. Listening to Buck rogers by feeder as you are racing just makes you go that little bit faster IMO lol.

What he said....I'm with you fella. Music is subjective, unless it's moody and subliminal, you really are dicing with death when it comes to a soundtrack, if you ask me.

Burnout isnt meant to be realistic. Its an arcade style game. I love having a rock style soundtrack while I'm ripping up the track. I can just imagine headbanging to GNR's Paradise City while I takedown my 25th car.

    Looks good.

BUT, I am very worried about the open world gameplay. If this stretches to the online play it will suck big time. Burnout Revenge (my favourite game of all time) really shines online and the lobbies etc are really good.

I really worry that this will end up like a better looking TDU or NFS:MW both of which have that pointless open ended kinda feel to them. Burnout needs some structure! All this driving where you want when you want is just stupid and about as exciting as a family day out in Morecambe!

I guess what I really want is a cross between burnout 3&4 with more tracks and cars, and better graphics, but I worry Paradise is gonna be nothing like that. Sorry for the negative post but I feel 'open roaming world' is about to ruin my favourite gaming franchise.:suicide:

The open ended gameplay of TDU is its main asset. It's not meant to be a straight racer but a giant car club.

Oh I agree, I just don't think Burnout should be going that way. It should be an out and out arcade racer/crasher.

You are genuinely worried about this hey, I love the burnout games like you mate and I think we need to see what they have done before we panic, i'm sure the online side will not be open ended but dont know that much about the game. Or is that the plan to have people driving around in the same map ala TDU, I hope not because thats not burnout is it. I am looking forward to it because the last one was a port at the end of the day, this ones been made for these consoles. I am sure they will pull out all the stops to make it the best burnout ever, after all they have never broke on yet have they.

Yup, I know its sad but I am truly worried.

As you mention Criterion have yet to mess up a Burnout game, and I will be buying this no matter what but jeeeeeeeeez...............

I guess this is the problem when you love a game as much as I love Revenge.:rotfl:

For sim type games, I totally agree, but can't imagine playing the Ridge Racer series without music.

Well i loved Burnout 1 and 2 on my PS2 but have hated all the versions since.
So I disagree with you as Criterion have "messed up" a few burnouts.:nono:

With the original burnouts they were good racing games where the objective was not to crash but if you did then it was spectacular. The new Burnouts were to fast, too unrealistic and the objective was to make your opponents crash rather than just out driving them. In my opinion this spoilt a great game but they probably sold more copies so why should Criterion worry.

Nope, they have never messed one up. They may have tried to make it different and for that I am glad, the games since Burnout 2(the best one IMO) have been great and the formula may of changed but the out and out fun factor hasn't. The word fun factor is a good one, because thats what the games all about and wether you like the way Burnout 3, revenge and domonator went you cant say the games were broken. How can you call a game that is trying to be fast to fast, taking down an opponent allways brings a :D moment so I can say with out doubt, Criterion haven't broken a Burnout yet and I am sure as sure they will not break this one. Oh and expect it to be faster and meaner than ever.:)

Well at least we are in agreement that Burnout 2 is the best in the series.
What i want from the new game is Burnout 2 with better graphics, more cars and more tracks and game modes. But the game engine changed for Burnout 3 so it's unlikely this will be a return to form. In my opinion they ruined the racing aspect of burnout from number 3 onwards and this ruined the whole game for me. A couple of friends of mine would regulary met for a "Burnout 2" session and all were as dissapointed with the newer versions as i was.
But i said before I guess they are looking for a mass market game that would be easy to pick up and play and not a cult game which Burnout 1,2 were.

I'll probably download the demo when its out but its unlikely i shall be buying it.
Now to dust off my PS2 and play a proper game

Your going to make the tracks in the new Burnout, your going to just drive around finding jumps having 7 mates in the game world with you. I see a clip earlier where he handbrake turned to park and got some kind of stunt award, also he did a jump and got a 35/350 stunts in gold came up, this isnt burnout, this is a big city to play in:smashin:

    Take a look.

    http://uk.gamespot.com/video/933706/6174018/videoplayerpop?rgroup=e32007_videos

Thats a whole new direction, the bit where if someone takes you out and you can controll there brakes to try and make them crash, how funny will that be. This is looking cool.
