bulb brightness

Dumb question but can anyone tell me if a 20w halagon bulb gonna be brighter than a 40w normal bulb?

It may or may not depending on the Halogen bulb type.

The ISO standard for measuring brightness is a unit called Lumens. Good ol' imperial used Candlepower!

Look on the web for your bulbs and see if they have a Lumens or Candlepower rating.
