Hi everyone, I used to dwell on here years and years ago but can't get into my old account .

I've recently moved the front room around after decorating and I'm going to be building some shelves to hold the amp & speakers (Marantz SR4300 / Cambridge audio S30). Because the tv is in an alcove and facing out at an angle, the shelves will be quite deep and I'm unsure of how this will effect the acoustics.

There will be one shelf directly on the skirting board level to hold the amp / speakers, another shelf above it to hold the sky box & ps3 and a final shelf to cap it off and sit a couple of inches under the floating tv.

I apologise if I'm explaining it poorly but with the speakers effectively boxed in would it have any acoustic benefits if the shelf above the speakers was only half depth so that the speakers weren't boxed in?

Thanks for any advice you guys can offer
