    Hi
I have an HP Mini Pavilion. Looks like a small salad bowl :)
A while ago i upgraded the memory from 4 to 8 gig and replaced the HD with a 250 Gig SSD
At the moment I have windows 10 running and only use occasionally for watching KODI.
I was wondering if I could replace Win 10 with another platform that i might use for a media player
maybe Linux or Android. I don't have any experience with either so I'm wondering what would be the best way to make use of the HP Mini.
Apologies for the rambling nature of this thread not really sure what to do. I have a firestick that I use for Amazon and Netflix but it's been playing up recently and rather than buy another i thought perhaps build my own media system.
Thanks for any help and advice
    Ian

I'd get an Android box only because if you don't know your way around Linux get support for it is difficult to say the least.
If you know Linux then I would go that way giving you more control

    Thanks for the reply :lesson:
I was thinking of getting an Android Box to replace the Fire Stick. So many to choose from its a bit daunting.
    Thanks

You could try installing Librelec to it, you don't need to know Linux for that.

Or, as you said, get yourself an Android box, & just install spmc/kodi from the app store, or with a bit more work, install Libreelec to a microsd card plugged into the android box, remove the microsd & you still have Android

You could install Libreelec on the HP. Then it'll boot straight into Kodi and should run a bit faster.

    Thanks for that.
I've heard of LibreElec but only in passing. Is Remix OS a contender ?
    Regards

That's a dead project. If you want a DIY media player Libreelec is far superior.
