I like the idea of the Meridian Sooloos and HP TouchSmart method of interacting with my music collection. However the Sooloos is way to expensive and the TouchSmart is not that cheap.
I thought I'd like to put something a little cheaper together but need some input.
My wife has an older Mac Powerbook G4 15 inch. Which does not have a digital jack. I am considering using that as the basis for the system. I am considering loading ITunes with lossless music (not a big HD but enough for quite a bit of music), buying a touchscreen from Dell or HP and connecting that as the controller. I then need to get a digital output in to my Naim DAC.
My questions are:
Is it possible to get a digital output from the Mac?
Will a touchscreen work with the older (or any) OS X operating system?
How will I get the digital stream to my Naim (via Airport?)?
Comments welcomed!
