I wonder if anyone can help, I use a Buffalo 1tb Linkstation LS-XL (the one with no buttons).

I recently moved house and brought the rest of my kit with me, router etc. When I plugged the drive in it makes a constant beep and the only light flashes blue, after a few minutes the beep becomes a louder almost buzz (again constant).

My laptop doesn't recognise the drive.

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Thanks

Laptop probably wouldn't recognise it if it's windows based, try a PC running Ubuntu or Linux Mint a linux OS then see if you can get your data off it.

If it doesnt work on those either might be the HDD failed hence the beep, not really familiar with Buffalo stuff so cant guess any more than that. I'd contact Buffalo tech support and see what they say also find your models manual on their website to see what the beep means.

Unfortunately I don't have access to another pc and tech support simply want to replace under warranty and also haven't heard/don't care about the issue.

As for the manual, it has nothing in it about beeps, flashing lights etc..
