I've been thinking about the following set-up:

    Screenplay 4800 (Projector) £750
    Pioneer DV-575A (DVD player) £120
    Denon AVR 1604 (Receiver) £240
    B&W in-wall speakers

I've seen excellent reviews for the Pioneer, and I know the speakers are going to do the business, I'm just not so sure about the amp!

    Any opinions?

    Mike

B&W are (can be low impeadance) so draw a lot of current, consider an amp with higher current rating, HK are more expensive but have very high current ratings for integrated AV amps, look for a second hand AVR4500/4550 or similar, as new you are looking £600+, or a second hand Denon 3803, 1604 is a bit weedy.

Thanks hornydragon, I'm not looking to spend that much on my amp, could you recommend other speakers? I'm trying to keep my system under £2K

What do you think of the AVR1804 or the AVR2803?

2803 should have enough umph. if you are going to be using amp as Video hub, you should make sure it does what you need and has some future upgrade path. I like HK amps personally but Denon pioneer Yamaha and Marantz onkyo also make some fine kit, in ceiling surrounds....... look at sonance and Boston speakers, but in-wall/ inceiling are pricey, we have an in ceiling system but its £4k of speakers! and £600 of Sub...
