    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is any news on the budget range multi-format DVD players that were supposed to be released at the beginning of this year?

There seem to be many unknown brand budget DVD players now, but they do not support SACD or DVD-A.

The take up for either format has been very low and it seems most people are happy with conventional cds. Therefore I suppose sacd and dvd-a chipsets are going to remain more expensive than perhaps was hoped. Certainly both formats are a long way from being established.

    Just as I thought.

The license for the the formats is probabaly still quite expensive.

Is it true that SACD will become incorporated in music systems and DVD-A in DVD players?

Larger Virgin Megastores and HMV's in London have quite a large selection.

    panasonic dvd-s35 and dvd-s75 plays dvd-audio discs.
    s35 only supports stereo dvd-audio.. while the s75 supports 5.1 dvd-audio.

they also play dvd-ram, dvd-r/w and decodes dd5.1 and dts (i'd use a receiver for that though).

    and they're not expensive
