I just wondered, with DVD technology improving all the time, will I get better pq from a new budget DVD player (around £200) or a second hand player that 2-3 years ago was top of the range (around £1000)?

So is it, £200 player using DVI or £200 for 2yrs old player (that was a £1000) using component???

While I don't think one can generalise, I think the balance of probability is that the old player will have a higher PQ, particularly its' decoder. While a digital output via DVI is generally like for like better than analog, 'garbage in means garbage out' still applies. ;)

Spider go for the quality analogue connection, digital is not all its cracked up to be IMHO.
