I would consider going for the SR5400 which is only an extra £50 but will sound even better than the SR4400. Richer Sounds do the 5400 for £300 which leaves you £200 for speakers. You could get 5 reasonable speakers for that but you might want get a good set of fronts and a centre for £200 and add a set of rears in a couple of months when you have saved some more dosh.
I used to have a SR4300 (which was good) and swapped it for a SR5300 but I was surprised how better it sounded.
My brother recently spent that sort of money on a Yahama HTR5640 and Mordant Short Premier. I must say, for the money, it is truely excellent, especially the MS.........waht a surprise in that price range. Got them both from Richer Sounds
