    I was thinking a Marantz sr4400 reciever but i am a bit lost on speakers.

    Is the marantz a decent amp? What would you buy?

    4400 is ok MS premiere speakers go well but look at canto CD1 and Tannoy FX5.1 as well as yamaha denon and Pioneer amps

    I would consider going for the SR5400 which is only an extra £50 but will sound even better than the SR4400. Richer Sounds do the 5400 for £300 which leaves you £200 for speakers. You could get 5 reasonable speakers for that but you might want get a good set of fronts and a centre for £200 and add a set of rears in a couple of months when you have saved some more dosh.

    I used to have a SR4300 (which was good) and swapped it for a SR5300 but I was surprised how better it sounded.
