Not sure about other parts but the E2180 will overclock to at least 2.8GHz (assuming the RAM clocks a little) with relative ease, knocking no lifetime off it at all. Temps may be a little higher, but nothing too drastic that you'd need extra cooling. That is, if you don't change any voltage settings, but you shouldn't need to with a small overclock to 2.8GHz.

I didn't even realise the E2180 was out already, seems like a good price at £55 delivered from ebuyer. Does anyone know if this overclockers as well as the E2160 did? If it does, the 10x multiplier should make for some interesting results.

Good luck trying to game on a 8500gt. It just wont happen. The 8500gt isnt powerful enough for gaming and is more suited to web surfing and video playback.

Razor is right. For that money you could probably get an Ati 1600Pro, still a very useful and highly regarded card, just try to get one with the DDR3 memory.

For £200, buy a console - it would be money better spent.

couldn't betray a pc by buying a 360 or ps3 instead of a pc...
but i would consider buying a chipped 360 in the future however
i need a new upgrade on my pc anyway & whats the point of upgrading if i can't play latest pc games at decent fps
i still choose pc over console

budget was blown over by another £85:

this is what i've ordered:

this is what i've ordered:

£285 inc. shipping

MSI P6N SLI-F V2 NF650i SLi, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 533/667/800 MHz, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX (apparently good at o/c, saves me having to buy pata to sata converter at has support for up to 4 ide drives, supports: quad core, SLi &8gb ddr2 for future upgrades)

intel dual core e2180 2ghz 1mb (2x512kb) L2 cache (cheap arse will get quad core when prices come down)

ocz 2gb ddr2 pc6400 800mhz non-eec unbuffered (pushed the budget off the cliff on this one, will buy another 2gb of these at a later date)

ati dabs value x1950 pro 512mb gddr3 pci-x dual dvi (amazing card needs 512mb for higher performance at high res)
