I am looking to upgrade my home cinema setup when I move in the next few weeks. I have a budget of around £250 for a Dolby Digital/DTS amp/receiver and therefore the current choices are Sony STRDB840 or Yamaha RXV596RDS. Does anyone have any comments on either of these two are other suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I paid £300 for my Yam DSP-A5 a while ago, I'm sure if you shop around you might get it cheaper. Bloody fantastic amp for the price IMHO. DTS, optical / coax i/p etc, etc... brilliant.

Word of caution though, try before you buy, I bought the amp & speakers at the same time so I had a match, but I was astonished by the difference in sound between simillar priced speakers & amp combination (what I'm trying to say is some amps match with some speakers better than other speakers (& vice versa).
