I am looking for a decent amp to drive a pair of wharfedale 7.1* speakers (gale stands) before i upgrade to some cresta 2/3s. Can't cost more than £150. Source will be a sb live 5.1 computer sound card, again until i can afford to upgrade.

I was looking at the Marantz pm4200 or the Cambridge audio A5.

Are there any others that are worth considering? I notice everyone seems keen on nad amps but they seem out of my price range.

or if you want sleeker styling (£140):-

It's probably worth your while searching around for second hand or ex dem gear as your money will go a lot futher.
I've just checked ebay and there's an Arcam Alpha 8 here (current bid £112):-

hunt about and you should find some bargains or alternatively put a wanted ad in the forums classifieds.:smashin:

Hmm, I dont really want to buy second hand. Just been into RS and they have the sony tafe570 and marantz pm4200 for £110 and £120.

Which would be the better amp for the money or is the 6010OSE definately worth the extra 20/30 pounds?

    Thanks for the replies.

Can't comment since I've heard neither. Listen to both and purchase the one you like the most. If they sound similar then choose the one that has the better options and connectivity or even the one whos styling you prefer.
