    Following featues required;
    DD 5.1
    PLII
    RDS Tuner.

    Simple enough really. He just wants something to shove under the telly and replace his existing radio and PL amp, then connect via an optical lead to his TV/DVD combo.

    Price <£250.

    Try Richer sounds there are amps from £120 upwards that meet your dad's needs.

    The cheaper Richer Sounds units will not have PLII (well worth having).

    In the sub £250 bracket there's that Yamaha RX-V430. I've got a variation of it and it's great.

    If that price has to include speakers. then you may struggle to get all the features.

    Nah...... he's gonna use his existing speakers that he uses with his PL set-up. The problem I'm having is that most web-sites (Richer Sounds in particular) dont specify whether the receiver is RDS or not.

    Think I'll just pack him off to Richer Sounds in Stockport, with a shortlist of questions/requirements and put my trust in them :confused:

    There's the Marantz SR4200 at £199, has all of those features and has won several awards.
    I have one and think it's great for the price.
