BTTF, anyone got the replacement disks yet?

    Has anyone got the replacement disks yet?

    Having finaly got round to watching the boxset I'm still not sure weather to get them replaced.

    So a couple of quick questions.

    1. Are the replacement disks available yet.
    2. If I want to get them replaced what's the best way to do this?

    I spoke to Universal Music (UK) yesterday about the R2 replacements of BTTF. They confirmed that the replacements will now be shipped early July to all those who have informed them by letter that they require replacements.

    If you have sent a letter to Universal Music (UK) but have not received a standard reply letter from them, then they did not receive your original letter and advise to write to them again to make sure that you get your replacements.

    I have E-mailed Universal (Canada), who replied that they will be shipping R1 version in the next couple of weeks.

    This will be the Canadian R1 version (as supplied by www.play.com etc) and not the U.S. R1 version.

    Did you have to send back the Faulty ones back before you get the new ones , I have the Region 1 and note sure if want to send
    back ,
    Also I take it that they are Region 1

    Having received Region 4 replacement disks from Universal Australia a couple of weeks ago, which came in an Amaray case, I am disgusted at Universal UK for how they have sent out the Region 2 replacement disks. Mine arrived this morning in unsealed plastic sleeves ***! These disks are seriously scratched to hell, which is a shame for the friend I was going to donate them to.

    BIONIC MAN - No, international customers don't have to send the original disks back.

    Region 4. No I did not have to return the discs, just provide a copy of my e-mail confirmation from EZYDVD.

    I received my R1 versions on Monday from Universal (Canada) in plastic boxes, and my R2 versions today from Universal (UK). Both of them appear to be perfect.

    Region 1 Has more Extra's the other have not

    That's why I went for the Region 1

    OK I have the R2 faulty box set. What exactly do I do now to get the faulty disc/s replaced? Are they all in need of replacement or just one movie disc? etc...

    I have seen the dvdforums link on another thread, but I'm not registered.
    I've requested another order confirmation from cd-wow; I ordered exactly 1 year ago!

    My R2 version replacements arrived on my doormat this morning also..as SG has already stated, pretty shoddy packing though, thankfully mine dont seem to be scratched though.

    does anyone know If its is safe to buy them New yet IE have they got rid/withdraw all the old stock.

    you could either write to them explaining that you received them as a gift and don't have a receipt or send in your discs,(which you may have to do if you don't have a receipt)

    I got my discs without a reciept and got mine yesterday but there is a problem as mentioned in my post. BTTF3 replacement disc has a dull picture look to the one you have which has a much better vibrant golden shine picture. So it look like another replacement ? I will contact universal and let you all know what they are going to do if any?

    How can I check my BTTF's to see whether it needs replacing?

    Dean - Go to the BTTF fan site at www.bttf.com and check under the DVD section of the message boards. There are good illustrations on how to identify whether your copy needs replacing.

    I suspect if it was bought from the store recently it will need replacing, unless you don't mind the misframed horizontal bars.

    Cheers Marty, yeah I remember at Home Cinema Choice site it said certain scenes were noticable. I think it's when the scene in BTTF2 where the Doc is talking to Marty (near the DeLorean in the alley) and you see the doc's bracelet is cut out slightly. Cheers, I'll check that site out anyway.
