Broken LCD (LVM-42w2) - Any chance of repair or salvage?

Hello all,

A few months ago, my LCD TV (Westy LVM-42w2) was struck by fast moving flying projectiles (the batters of a Wii remote!).

When the TV is turned on, it basically looks like psychedelic broken glass. I talked to a repair guy shortly after it happened, and he said that there is a back panel of glass that had shattered and that it is not fixable.

I am at a point now where I have to do something with this thing, and thought I would check here. Do I have any options to salvage anything from this TV, or is it just destined to the junk yard?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

It'll be uneconomical to repair, probably more expensive than a brand new set of the same size. New panel + labour.
