OK, stupid question of the year coming up...

Why, on my widescreen tele, do broadcasts such as Eastenders appear to chop off the right and left hand side of the picture? Like the characters' face is half-in and half-out of shot...

I know there's a bloody obvious answer but I can't figure it out - unless they're being broadcast that way? Or is ntl, my cable provider sending me a strange aspect ratio?

    Thanks!

    Flatley,

Have you done a search on the Forum?

This query has come up more times than I can remember!

Post back if you're still mystified. :)

    Hi

If you go into your NTL/TV settings and adjust to 16/9, you still may get a few problems with some programs, it depends on how they are broadcast and your set-up.

Whoops... I thought my search yielded 0 results; time to learn how to spell! OK, I did find some stuff here and I adjusted my cable box. Thanks for the heads up - looks much better now.

But, as Nig says, there's still problems with some... I watch Kerrang! alot their broadcast is set to 4:3 most of the time so switching to 16:9 doesn't do much for me.

    Anyway, thanks again!
