A few from tonights game. 11th straight defeat in the Premiership for Bristol who look in a lot of trouble. They are playing well, but not well enough and with key personel absent, injured or moved on, one wonders if they could go down. It is not looking good.

All shot on a D3 at 6400 ISO with a 300mm F/2.8.

again truely amazing rugby pics. like the DOF so that the backgrounds are out of focus which really makes the players stand out. often you see sports pics and there's far too much going on in the background

the D3's performance at ISO 6400 seems to be flawless

excellent stuff

for a noob like me can i ask why such a high ISO?? normal shots are taken at around 100/200/400/800 even but why 6400??? Just interested:rolleyes:

Shutter speeds look to be very high Pete and that D3 is superb for noise at 6400, excellent.

Ta,

You shutter speed is based in available light of which a floodlit game is not a lot. So, ISO 6400 allows me to get somewhere between 1/2500 - 1/1000th to freeze action, dependent on where the light falls best on the pitch.

Pete,
as usual fantastic shots.:smashin:

Do you actually manage to watch and enjoy the game or is i purely work looking through the lens and planning your next shot.

fantastic shots, the last one is superb

Quality stuff. #3 looks like it is about to get very painful. I like the pics under floodlights as the players stand out so well against the dark background.

I read that they lost yet again. They must be feeling like the whipping boys of the Premiership at the moment.

By the way, it would be cool if you could number your shots so us folks can do the neccessary when commenting on them :smashin:.

ok - thanks - so the ISO6400 allows you to keep the shutter speed very "quick" but still allow lots of light into the camera? Thanks

Nice work Pete

Are these shot as live?
