Just as a kind of rough guide, what are you guys running your contrast and brightness levels at on your A300's?

    Cheers.

Using other peoples set ups is not a good idea, unless all components are the same i.e Screen, DVD Player, Connections and lighting.

You should set your system up using a calibration disc for best results. ;)

Is that one of those AVIA disks that costs an extortionate amount of money?

Certainly is, but it will calibrate your picture the way it is supposed to be :) Im afraid its the only real way to calibrate your projector.

Video essentials is good too (not as good as AVIA though). The new version which is yet to be realised should be available in PAL format as well.

    :smashin:

Also some DVDs have the THX optimizer program on the m, this would help you to setup your contrast (My AnchorBAy Evil Dead DVD has this little prog)

    Hi Captian chaos,

I set mine up using the Avia disk but was not impressed with results. I had the DVD feeding both the AE300 and a 36" CRT. I was astonished how much detail was missing in dark scenes. I had to adjust brightness, contrast and color tint away from Avia settings to get a better picture. I'm at work so cant access my setting but I think I currently have contrast 6 brightness 3

I am using Phillips 963sa DVD thru component / Pal progressive.. Obviously my settings are relevant to this DVD.

    Cheers

    Deks

ps forgot to mention the scene I used as comparison was from Blade 2 which does have a lot of dark scenes
