Bricked ZTE MF627

I was unlocking my ZTE MF627 3G modem when the power failed and now have a bricked USB modem.
It still is recognised by Windows control panel. I can see the diagnostics port but the unlocking software can't see it. Anybody got any ideas on how to force a reflash?
