Both the Danish and the Norwegian versions you link to have English subtitles :)

Your best bet at a Danish etailer would be here: http://www.axelmusic.com/

You can have English text on their site. However, I can't find Breaking the Waves there.

It's present on another etailer's site:
    http://www.dvdoo.com/dvdoo/film.asp?Command=12228

Their site is in Danish only, and I don't know if they would ship out of the country. You could send them an email and ask: kundeservice@dvdoo.dk

Otherwise, I'd drop Axelmusic an email and ask about the movie - perhaps refer them to the above link at DVDoo's site.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Cheers,
    Erling

    Many thanks Erling,

There is still some confusion as to whether the movie itself has English subtitles. The extras do have English subtitles, so this could be why the English is listed as one of subtitles available on the cover.

See this DVDBeaver comparison review. This also shows the screen with subtitle options and English is not listed.

So I am at loss. Do you have the Danish disk of this film by chance?

    Cheers,

    Paul.

    Hello Paul,

No, I don't have the movie myself, but have found out something more.

I Have to apologize - DVDBeaver is correct. I found the movie at another etailer, www.laserdisken.dk. They have large versions of the front and back of the covers, and your assumption is correct - it's only the extras disc that has English subtitles.

This etailer has 3 versions of the movie available, two region 2 and one region 1. I can't quite make out the details on the back of the region 1 cover, but on both region 2 releases, languages are stated as English & Italian. IMDB also lists the language as English, so it would seem that you won't need the English sutitles - at least not because of the dialogue being in Danish.

    Cheers,
    Erling
