I thought it would be a long time before we saw this on high def, but 'Breaker Morant' is coming out on the 15th of January.

For anyone who's not seen it, it's about British soldiers being court martialled in the Boer War for killing 'terrorist' soldiers.

A superb little indie film, likely to appeal to those interested in court room dramas. It's 'look' is very similar to 'Picnic At Hanging Rock'.

    Well worth a look.

I'm extremely disappointed to hear rumors that this disc my be regionally coded.

    Does anyone have any information?

It's on Image entertainment - what do they usually do?

    Bit of clarification.

They were Australians working under the command of the British, following there orders, then getting court marshalled for it due to politics and being made scapegoats so Germany would not enter the war on the Boar side.

Oh and the lead role was played by Edward Woodward that probably why Pecker said British soldiers.

    BUMP

Still waiting for any information from anywhere on theRC status of this disc.

I've checked a few sites - but no news.

Which sites do others here use to check RC?

Soldiers working with the British Army.

This often happens. Most of the 'British' soldiers who shot protesters at the Amritsar massacre were actually Indians under British command.

It may be an exageration to say I bought a US Blu-ray Disc player just to watch 'Breaker' Morant, but not much of one. It was certainly the catalyst which led to my purchase - the release which led me to realise that there'd always be films I couldn't watch on BD if I stayed UK only.

I agree with much of Chris McEneany's review, but not all. The PQ is surprisingly good, and certainly as good as I could have hoped for such a film. Apart from some awfully excessive grain in one of the first scenes (I presume they could only source this portion from an inferior print) it looked just fine. Maybe worth a 6 if compared to all films, but more of a 7 or 8 considering the source material.

Well worth £312.98 from Movietyme )free Region A Samsung BD-P1500 include).
