Looking to change from the AA as they constantly increase their premiums each year, and require me to call and haggle for ages to get the price back down to what they charge new customers. I've read a lot of good things about AutoAid but wondered if anyone on here uses them? £39 for me and my wife for the year.
I've been a member of the AA for about 6 or 7 years, and each year I qualify for a "new level" of cover (silver/gold/platinum blah blah blah). I've yet to make claim too...

The AA are a bunch of p*ss takers. They tried increasing our breakdown from £170 for a 2 person policy to well over £300 this year! We got very similar cover from Green Flag for £90, but it specifically covers our two cars not any car we travel in which is all we wanted anyway.

I haven't heard of Autoaid but that's cheap, does it cover for recovering your car to anywhere in the country?

Have used Autoaid for years on basis of recommendation on moneysavingexpert , never needed to call them out so can't comment on that aspect but by all accounts the reclaiming money is a doodle, you can choose to call a local breakdown company or get Autoaid to do it for you

Covers everything including recovery/relay all across uk.

They also don't play silly beggers at renewal time. Can't be beaten for price, 2 cars for less than £40 a year:)

I usually flip between AA, RAC and Green Flag ... taking an almost complete package (without European or some of the BS add ons from AA/RAC) and going through Quidco - generally works out around £40ish

    Thanks for the replies.
I think I might just take a punt on autoaid and see what happens. :)

I've been with Autoaid for 2 years now. Again, like a previous poster I've not had to actually use them. Simple enough though, they send you all the paperwork you need to fill out to claim back the money. It's basically cheap as you do the admin and they replay the money.
After looking at silly quotes from all the main players I thought (after looking at Moneysavingexpert) it's worth a shot with Autoaid as you get a lot for your money.

I tend to do the same between the RAC and AA. For two people with a similar amount of cover with cashback it ends up between £70-£100 for two people.

Hoping I get the AA dice roll this year. Had a breakdown with the RAC that I was not impressed with one bit - 5 hours from call out to home (4 miles)!

We have been haggling with the AA each year against RAC prices to get them to reduce their renewal amount, but having not claimed in 6 years, I'm thinking it is worthwhile just moving to AutoAid to cut down the hassle and save some money.

I pay for a £99 service and £30 mot from my local Ford dealer and get free 'full service' AA cover - even European (not that I have ever used it). I flattened my battery and they came out and couldn't believe the cover I had!
This is with Dagenham Motors and have had them service my car for the last three years. It was about seven years old when they started. I've had to replace the wiper blades and a bulb or so in all that time. So they don't take the Mick.
Got a load of stuff recommended last time, but it got through. I really should get rid, but it just keeps on going! (diesel mondeo estate). Actually my first Ford and I'm very happy indeed with 50mpg+.

We went with Qdos last time - £58 after quidco for one car/two drivers with European cover for our month abroad each summer.

I've been using Autoaid for the last 4 odd years, and unlike the other posters, have actually had to use them on several occasions. The service they offer is great. When you break down you call their hotline to log the issue. They then give you a chance to use a recovery company of your choosing, or they can take on that responsibility and find someone for you. Once they do that, the recovery firm treat you as a private customer (although Autoaid will still assist if needed)

For the first few years, you would then pay the recovery firm directly for whatever they do. You fill out a claim form to recover your costs (single side of A4). Payment would usually come within a week. Last couple of times though Autoaid have been sorting out payment directly. Apparently this is a temporary measure, but they couldn't tell me when it would cease- better check that yourself...

They're always polite, offer a degree of homestart (can't remember the conditions, but something like 30 mins) and it cover both you and your spouse in whatever car you're in (even as a passenger I believe)

    I would definitely recommend them

I used them for a spell but didn't actually have a callout. Now I just have the free one with my bank account that covers Europe too.

Just to keep the thread going... :)

I get cover through my bank account fee with green flag. Worth it as both names on the account so both covered both mobiles covered and we get travel insurance too including my wife who has MS (small extra amount). Claimed twice for phones (£50 excess) so happy so far. Works out at £170 a year but for all 3 I think that's ok. There are other benefits too but worth checking if you already have a fee paying account.
