Couldn't find a thread on this. Hope it's OK to post. Taken from Braveheart's Wikipedia page:

On February 9, 2018, a sequel titled Robert the Bruce was announced. The film will lead directly on from Braveheart and follow the widow Moira, portrayed by Anna Hutchison, and her family (portrayed by Gabriel Bateman and Talitha Bateman), who save Robert the Bruce, with Angus Macfadyen reprising his role from Braveheart. The cast will also include Jared Harris, Patrick Fugit, Zach McGowan, Emma Kenney, Diarmaid Murtagh, Seoras Wallace, Shane Coffey, Kevin McNally and Melora Walters. Richard Gray will direct the film, with Macfadyen and Eric Belgau writing the script. Angus Macfadyen-Led Action Drama ‘Robert The Bruce’ Drafts Jared Harris, Patrick Fugit & Others

EXCLUSIVE: Angus Macfadyen who played the renowned warrior and king Robert the Bruce in Braveheart is portraying the historical hero again in what is turning out to be an epic Scottish drama Robert the Bruce from Aussie director Richard Gray (Sugar Mountain).

Macfadyen and Eric Belgau scripted the story that continues where the Oscar-winning Braveheart left off.

Joining Macfadyen in the historical drama are Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown) and Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) who worked with Macfadyen before in We Bought A Zoo. Zach McGowan (Black Sails), Emma Kenney (Shameless), Anna Hutchison (Spartacus, Cabin in the Woods), Diarmaid Murtagh (Vikings, The Monuments Men), Talitha Bateman (Geostorm), Gabriel Bateman (Benji), Seoras Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers), Shane Coffey (Pretty Little Liars, Sugar Mountain), Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Melora Walters (Magnolia) round out the cast.
Robert the Bruce follows the widow Moira (Hutchison) and her child (Gabriel Bateman), niece (Talitha Bateman) and nephew (Lessard) who save the King of Scotland, Robert The Bruce.

Helmer Gray is producing with Macfadyen and Hutchison alongside Kim Barnard, Nick Farnell, Cameron Nuggent and Andrew Curry. Cater Boehm of Ponderosa Films, Sharon Cox, Mike Gillespie at Primary Wave Entertainment and Gray’s Yellow Brick Films are executive producers.
Macfayden, a well-known Scottish actor who has worked in TV and film since 1990, is repped by Curtis Brown Group, Innovative Artists and Kramer Management. Harris is repped by ICM Partners, Independent Talent Group and Gateway Management Company. Fugit is repped by The Gersh Agency and Levin/Brown Management. The Batemans are repped by Coast to Coast and Hg5 Entertainment. Kenney is repped by Primary Wave Entertainment and Innovative Artists.

Hmm I guess that the powers that be in Scotland wants that second referendum as we have the Netflix flick just out:D;). Wonder who the backers are on this un.

If it has a Tim Roth's Archibald Cunningham type character, that would be good.

The history of Robert the Bruce and the various wars in and around his time make for interesting reading. But the history is far too complex to accurately depict on screen without sacrificing the simplistic 'goodies and baddies' narrative so I doubt we'll ever see it. Robert became quite the conqueror later on attempting invasions in England and Ireland (which he hoped to unify with Scotland as part of a pan-Gaelic nation). The Irish were having none of it though.

Filming had started by February 2019.

Looks like it's debuting at the EIFF.

Hope you don’t mind if I post the latest Honest Trailer here!

According to the writer John O'Farrell said about the film(Braveheart), would not have been less historically accurate if a plasticine dog had been inserted into the picture and the titled changed to William Wallace and Gromit.:rotfl:

As one of the few that thoroughly enjoyed Netflix's The Outlaw King, I'll be interested to see how this measures up.

Don’t think this trailer has been posted as yet... can’t see any mention of Robert the Bruce on Cineworld / Vue / Odeon websites, even though it’s supposed to be released nationwide on June 28th...

It looks very small scale from that trailer. More like a TV show
