    Hi Guys,

Just bought a brand new Samsung UE40ES5500 TV today and just turned it on and set it up, however I have noticed a slight chirping noise coming from the back of the TV, not sure how to describe it, it's like a cricket or a bit like a PC when its processing something.

Is this normal because its a smart TV or is there something wrong with it?

    Thanks for your help guys

    Thread moved.

You shouldn't hear any noise from the back of your set from a good seating distance, at least not loud enough to hear over content.
Hard to say what the sound is without hearing it first hand. As Logical says, best to contact your retailer and get it looked at if its concerning you.

<scratching head> Maybe try to describe the sound more clearly?

My ES5500 doesn't chirp or sound like a cricket, but then neither does my PC. Can't hear anything from my TV unless I put my ear right up close to the back. If that's when you hear the crickets, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Thanks for replies

It's fairly faint, however if its really quiet, I can hear it occasionally, it's coming from the back, probably near the power source, like a faint rubbing noise, hard to describe? maybe a hard drive noise. Don't know if its because of the processors in it or fans or anything.

Bought it from Richer sounds brand new on Friday with 5 yrs Warranty

I suspect slight mechanical movement from a transformer or inductor in the switch mode power supply.
