I've been following this headset for a couple of months now and the reviews are all positive at Head-Fi now that people have received theirs.

[Review] Brainwavz HM5, A New Neutral Champ

I'll be using these for gaming, movies and the odd bit of music and they have been said to be on par with the Audio Technica Ad900 with better bass
and are more or less the same as Ficher Audio FA-003 aesthetically.

However they are on pre-order and have an estimated Feb due date. I am going to order these from mp4 Nation as they have a $10 off code to sweeten the deal. The best part is that they only cost around £70 (Not taking into consideration potential customs charges). Now that is a bit of a bargain.

    Anyone else got these headphones?

No, but the hype is strong with this one. The HM3 is $75 locally here, and is a great phone for that price, I was very impressed. The 5 looks like it will be even better, but still well priced.

Really does shame some of the big brands.

I enquired about customs charges and the carry case (as this was only available for the first batch of pre-order items), this is the reply I got.

I just want to add that with the included accessories for the first production batch will be a carrying case, we were not going to have this as first but our intended packaging for the HM5 will not be ready in time, so we are going to use the carrying case as the main packing.

The packaging and accessories will be the same for this preorder as was for the first preorder, so there will still be a carrying case.

We do mark parcels as gifts and give them a value of US$25 for registered airmail and EMS, normally buyers in the UK who use registered airmail or EMS do not get issued duty. We do not put a lower value for Fedex, a copy of your order invoice with actual price is sent with every fedex shipment.

Might be too late on this, but these headphones are the same as our Premium Hi-Fi models. They're from the same OEM.

Ours come with the carry case and a box! ;)

Available right now in the UK direct from us, Amazon and other fine resellers.

Interesting. Who manufactures these then? Are there any differences between the Lindy and the Brainwavz HM5?

    http://mp4nation.net/catalog/brainwavz-hm5-studio-monitor-headphones-preorder-p-663.html

I could always cancel my pre-order with mp4nation.

They're made by one of the leading factories in China who make headphones for many of the big Japanese manufacturers too.

I think the HM5's come with two cables a 1.3m and a 3m, and an aeroplane adapter.

Ours just come with a 3m cable only and no aeroplane adapter.

I've not got them mate. I have them on pre-order with mp4nation and they were due for release late Feb. I've raised a ticket to cancel my order and for a refund. When that happens I'm going to get the Lindy's.

The HM5's have been hyped by Dragon 2 Kinght at HeadFi.

    @LINDY Michael,
Do you sell the 1.5m cable?

    Cheers folks. Very very tempted.

    Here are the Lindy Reviews

    Review: Lindy Premium Hi-Fi Headphones

    [REVIEW] Lindy Premium Hi-Fi Headphones

+1 about the cables, I'd like something shorter too, as the plugs use a twist lock mechanism if they are the same as the Brainwavz which cannot be bought from shops.

Yep. the cables do use a twistlock. We don't stock the 1.5m cables at the moment. I'll check with our Product Managers to see if they can source them though.

My AX Pros I use mainly on my PS3 and Xbox sometimes my bluray player.

These headphones will be used on my laptop and TV maybe my phone too. Thinking about getting a headphone amp thingy but have no idea where to start with that.

Don't bother. A better source will provide more SQ for your money than amping poor ones, which can decrease SQ.

When I'm using these headphones with my iPod Classic I like to use a little FiiO E5 Headphone Amp. It gives the iPod bit more oomph!

I think I will start working on a surround sound kit at some point, so late at night I could plug my headphones into that too. :)

Should be no later than the end of next week to get these.

This is my first decent pair of headphones so this mini review or rather my thoughts might lack some of the more in depth detail some of you like but here we go anyway.

I got the Lindy Premium headphones, they came in a big cardboard box well packed with bubble pack. At the bottom of this box (which my little daughter now uses as a boat and a house for her toys ) was my headphones.
The first thing that struck me when I got the headphones out was the build quality. They are rock solid! The very well built and the connections were very easy to plug into the headphone. All connections are gold plated and the cable is thick and very well made by the feel of it.
Now I tested Final Fantasy 13 game, The Silent Comedy Gasoline song, A bit of Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children sound track and some normal tv footage.

With each sample it was as if I was hearing the music for the first time. Take Gasoline there is a violin being played in the background and I could hear the slight roughness of the bow hitting the strings, stunning!
One thing I noticed is bass doesnt seem to be lacking but at the same time its not over powering the rest of the music, this is where my Sonys were boomy but lost the finer detailing in music/games/movies etc.

For £75 I feel as if Ive cheated Lindy out of cash I would have happly paid more to me there that good. I'm very happy.

Now I have the audio bug listening to the tv without these headphones seems boring, like Im missing that extra bit of goodness, so I can see me going down the surround sound route for daytime and some night time movie playing. Time to get saving.

I've received my refund from mp4nations. So I've now put an order in for these at Lindy. I went through Quidco as there is a 10% off code plus 7% cashback.

I'll be posting my feedback for these on the xbox gaming headsets thread we have over at the xbox 360 section.

    Can't wait :D
