Hi all. In late January, I started to redecorate my house and thought about a large-screen plasma/lcd tv for the first time. Finding this forum, I must now have spent the equivalent of at least a couple of days man hours reading and dissecting all reviews. Whew....what an amazing world~ the more I think I know,,,,,the less I actually do. Anywayz, I have come to the conclusion that it's advisable to wait a few months for the tranche of new screens that are HDTV compatible to be released. On a visit to TCR - almost parted with £2700 for the Pio PDP435XDE inc. w/b and speakers. Resisted. Right now, I'm waiting with baited breath for the new Philips 42 9830 LCD with all the bells and whistles - but equally, the new Hitachi's 7200's look tempting. I guess my questions are as follows: 1. I have a cosy rectangular room with a viewing distance of about 7/8 ft - is a 42' screen to big? 2. Whilst I think I'm happy with the plasma world.....the home cinema world leaves me confused. Is there a high-def DVD Recorder cinema system out of the box? 3. If not.....Samsung HD 945......seems good. I spose av revceiver and speaker package is then the option. Any ideas? I have an xbox and NTL. 4. Anyone heard about NTL HD and what is happening??? 5. Anyone recommend any good av specialist in the North-west London area - JL set up is always terrible!!! Apologies for the long thread....I feel like a 4 year old who's just discovered McDonalds!!!!!
