    Hi,

as the title sugests, i have a Panasonic TXL 42E5B.

I have just moved house and before the plasterer gets to work on the walls (house is a mess) i was planning to get the TV sorted.

I will be getting sky plus and will be playing a ps3 and watching DVDs (not 3D)

What all in one systems would you recomend for around 250 - 400 pound?

I would like to be able to use the home cinema system sound when playing games or watching sky chanels. ideally it would be the dvd player too and wouldnt involve setting up each time i turn sky on

Any recomendations on connecting all together would also be welcome

    Thanks

    Hi,

Guess i dont, there is a posibility that the Ps3 will go up in the bedroom at a later date but i could just get a new dvd player then - I will have a look at the Onkyo now

in terms of conecting to sky + (not hd) and the ps3

would it be sky box to TV via hdmi
sky box to Onkyo with digital audio out
    tv to onkyo via hdmi
and ps3 to onkyo via hdmi

imagine i have that all wrong

    Thanks

Bang on with set up. Thats what i have. I only just got the SKS not even installed yet but the quality of sound from the system is v good.
Just needs the surround pack to give better balance to all the channels.
I have faith that I wont be disappointed.
Let me know what you decide.
IMO and in case the thought had occurred, stay clear of soundbars, they promise you the world but only deliver a small country, but its entirely up to yourself of course.
    Hope I've helped

You were reading my mind, I did start to look at the sound bars but after reading a few reviews I think I will go for this.

Let me know how you get on. I'm going to head to richer sounds this weekend

Check Amazon and Superfi too - price may vary a bit.
I'm connecting this weekend so will post my thoughts on the owners thread if time allows

Has the Sky + box got HDMI connections?
My old Thompson Sky + box only had Scart connections and one optical on the back. I got an old Sky + HD box from my son but I am using my original Sky + card so I only get the free to air HD channels. This gives me HDMI and Optical connection.
My system is connected like this:
    SKY+HD to Onkyo via HDMI2 and Optical2
Blu ray to Onkyo Via HDMI3
Onkyo to TV via HDMI OUT and Optical3 (this provides Dolby sound from the TV tuner to Onkyo).
Quite a few people connect the Sky box directly to the TV with HDMI and to the Onkyo with Optical so nothing wrong with that either.

Just noticed Richer sound are doing the Onkyo HTS3505 for 249 - is this a better option?

I suspect the audio quality may be slightly better from the 3505, however I've never listened to one so that is pure guesswork.

The disadvantage of the 3505 is that you need to have space for a largeish receiver unit, whereas the elctronics on the HTX22HDX are contained in the sub.

Yes the separate receiver and the bigger sub put me off the 3505, a great system for the money though if you have got the space.

If you haven't got your Sky box yet when you get it fitted mention that you need HDMI connections and the engineer will probably give you a HD + box.
If you already have your sound system by the time the engineer comes to install he will have to leave you with a Sky + HD box in order for him to connect up you system. I just told the guy at Richer Sounds what kit I had and he suggested the cable I needed for my centre speaker, I got a good discount as well.
