Been trying to decide between a Pioneer PDP43XDE and the long awaited Panasonic and after seeing the picture quality  I bought it there and then from the Panasonic shop in Watford.

£2400 having it delivered Tuesday 24th May

    Can't wait.

Did you get a wall mount with that?
Did you get the free DVD Recorder?

I got the wall mount. According to Panasonic the free DVD recorder deal is only available on the PE50 model and not on any 500's. Also Panasonic and currently deciding to extend the warranty to either 3 or 5 years, if they do my dealer will honour this for me.

I was just about to order the Pioneer after seeing a demo. Then saw the new Panasonic online and it made me think twice. From what I can tell, the Panasonic has similar features but no media box (and it's heavier due to Pioneer's plastic screen). I want mine on the wall, so the media box with one cable to hide seems like a good option (and the weight).

Are there any key differences between Panasonic and the Pioneer that makes it a better buy?

Just did a side by side test, Im afraid to say the Panny was better all round, Pioneer a little sharper on dvd, couldnt touch the Panny for colour depth . Come to think of it I dont know if the pioneer was a little to sharp.
I have just placed order for the Panny. Just my eyes worth.

Just ordered a TH37PV500 (Wall Mount) and TH42PV500 (Cabinet) from EmpireDirect. They take American Express, so I get the Membership Reward Points. The price was one of the cheapest around and they have stock. Looking forward to receiving them soon. Wonder how they'll fair versus the Pioneer 504 HDE. Cannot wait to find out. :) Pity no free DVD Recorders from Empire but not too bothered.
