My girlfriend and I have just had our offer accepted for our first house today.

I persuaded her that the second bedroom would never get used as a guest bedroom and would be a waste of a room; and my TV would dominate the lounge too much.

Therefore the second bedroom has been secured as "our" AV/Cinema room :D How happy am I?!
It's a very useful 12' x 10'8" room and I'm gonna love getting my kit in there.

Will get some piccies up when it's all up and running and looking fine!

On the house or the AV room?
I'm equally excited about each one, is that wrong?!

    Thanks

Both mate, nothing wrong with being excited about an AV room, totally normal behavior in these forums.

Congratulations mate, you have passed one of the most stressful experiences of the modern man. Also one of the most rewarding as far as I am concerned...A man's home is his castle after all.

Thanks, it's not over yet though. I won't be able to relax properly until i'm actually in there.
I'm pleased that the house hunting experience didn't go on for much longer.
We've only been looking for the last 3 weeks, so that's pretty quick really.

Spent quite a bit, but was below budget and a very good price for the area it's in.

    Congratulations mate.

are you buying in worthing then? i'm just down the road in brighton and got my first place with the other half end of last year.

it was probably about the 10th place we saw but knew straight away it was for us. No AV room though :(

It was a vacant property and we were in rented flat so we could move as quickly as the bank released the money, but owing to problems with one of the freeholders it took nearly 14 weeks to complete!

hope all goes smoothly, don't want to frighten you with my horror story :D

edit: oh yes forgot to say we're now also engaged and the missus talks about babies, it's a slippery slope beware!

We've bought a place in Shoreham-by-sea, so not far away really (moving should be easy).
We are both living at home at the moment and the property has no upward chain 'apparently' so it should go quickly hopefully.
    I wouldn't fancy a 14 week wait at all.

nah 14 weeks is mad, should have been only 3 or 4 in practice but some people can be difficult.

i was down in shoreham at the weekend buying a vacuum cleaner and being dragged around the big marks and spencers, joy of joys :D

we looked out towards Portslade but never as far as Shoreham, but in the end settled for a fairly central 1 bed flat in Brighton, up by Seven Dials.

The good old Holmbush centre, i'm gonna have to do my weekly shopping from there soon i suppose.

There will be a TV in the lounge, for now it'll have to be my previous one: a Sharp 26in "Flatscreen" CRT. It's gonna look very very small in comparison to my current set and will be dwarfed further by the 19' x 12' lounge. Luckily I don't hardly watch any TV, so up to the AV room it will be for films and Xbox 360 goodness.

Thanks for all your congrats guys
