Well bought the panasonic 42pz85 and now want the bigger one 46pz85! doh!

Fantastic Tv but just a little too small for my lounge.

The problem is i bought it from a panasonic dealer who had it for £1399 but price matched at £1007 with 5 yr warranty.

They will swap it but won't price match on the 46 to £1290 ish and will only do it for £1600!!! no way i can oay that but can go to £1300.

anyone any suggestions or know of other shops who will swap mine???? only got about 20 hours on it!!!And not even actually sent the warranty off yet!

    Hi,

Just say you are not happy with the set and ask for your money back p are there any issues with it - loud fans, buzzing, green trails etc? You would have a case then - I bet they will soon price match then!

A classic case of upgraditis, going through the same thing myself ? :D

How long have you had it for ? Im no expert but you can send stuff back within a certain period of time, usually 14ish days under distance selling regulations.

Or just jsut try to find a problem like fan noise, buzzing etc and send it back like that.

The step from 42" to 46" isn't very big. I think you should consider 50" as an absolute mininum if you're going to go through all the hassle of getting TVs changed.

ha ha i know what you're saying. but, the tv is in a small room my sofa is 9 feet away against the back wall, and the tv is obscuring most of the large window as it is, can't get away with the 50 therefore due to WAF:devil:
think i could get away with the 46 though

now you mention it, it does have the two overtightened screws on the front of the panel showing reflections should i be able to get my money back?
still got receipt and tv is only 26 days old

    Hi,

I agree, was in a Panny dealer today and there was not much in it between the 46" & 50" - if space constraints and budget are not an issue, go for the 50"!

I'm looking at getting a TH4?PZ80 and can't decide between the 42 or the 46. My eyes will be 10feet from the screen, do you think I should go for the 46, the room is not that big, about 3.6m x 3.5m.
In the shop the 50 made the 42 look really small, but i wasn't sure if the 46 was too big.
Apparently the optimum viewing distance for a 50 is only about 7 feet anyway, but I find that hard to believe !!!!

I went from a 42 PW6 to a 46PZ85 and i feel the viewable screen seems much bigger than the 42 .I know its only 4 inches but the difference between the two are worth it.My father-in-law had the 42PZ85 and when i look at his it seems tiny in comparison.
Of course this is my opinion ,but the only advice i can give.
All in all I'm glad i went for the 46.
Your only hope really is if its returned because of a fault of some kind

i too saw the 46 the other day and it looked noticeably bigger in comparison.

with regard to getting mine returned the guy at the panasonic shop was nice as pie and as sson as i said its got two screw like marks on the bezel he said 'either side of the panasonic logo?' i said yup he said yes he could see them on his in the shop and would send out a replacement.

however as soon as i said i wanted a refund his attitude completely changed! oh well he said i dont know if its a recognized fault by the manufacturer, i said well you spotted it straight away on yours and agreed with me that it must annoy that it refoects the light- well until you realised i wanted a refund that is!

it even says on their website they will 'offer' replacement or refund within 28 days not 'replacement and a fight for a refund'!

i don't know. most people pay over the odds to buy from a dealer because they bang on about how they charge more so that buying from the manufacturer results in the best service and no quibble etc etc. just shos cheaper places have a reputation to think about more so than manufacturers who know they'll shift a lot of boxes anyway!

still, will see what the manager says tomorrow.
