Bose Wave Radio - volume problem

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a used Bose Wave Radio (model awr1-1w). It powers on fine, but volume seems to be pre-set to a particular loudness and the volume controls on the radio make the volume number change, but does not change the volume correctly. There seems to be no volume change from 0 to 50. Once past a volume of 50 it starts to get louder, but only barely. Also, I can bring the volume number down to 0 but it still does not go any lower than the pre-set volume. This unit has the 3 AA backup battery and not the 9v. Also the right speaker is much louder than left,

I have seen in documents that some models have a "Demo Mode" that may be causing this, but I haven not found if this model has one or how it can be disabled. I do not have a remote control for it yet. If this does have a demo mode, would it be required to turn demo off? Is there another issue that isn't demo mode related that causes this?

Thanks
